Bhopal(The Uttam Hindu): Madhya Pradesh Police and Income Tax officials have seized 52 kilograms of gold and 11 crore rupees in cash from an abandoned car in Bhopal. The gold is valued at approximately 40 crore 47 lakh rupees.

Bhopal Zone-1 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Priyanka Shukla said that on Thursday night, the police received a tip-off regarding an abandoned car parked on the Mendori-Kushalpur road at the Ratibad police station area. When police personnel reached the spot, they found seven to eight bags inside the car. It was believed that due to the Income Tax raids recently conducted, and probably some other departmental raids, someone must have run away from there. The police informed the Income Tax Department, and the officials came to the site. They broke the window of the car and brought the bags from inside it.

During the search, the authorities recovered 52 kilograms of gold worth around 40 crore rupees and 11 crore rupees in cash. According to a police official, the Income Tax Department is dealing with the further proceedings of the case. It has also been learnt that the car was registered with the number plate of MP 07 (Gwalior RTO) to Chetan Singh, who is a resident of Gwalior but is presently staying in Bhopal. The investigation is underway.

During the search, when they broke the car window to discover bags, officials and police officers were shocked in a daze, never knowing what was inside them.
