New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): YouTube is reportedly preparing to launch significant updates to its platform, allowing users to access third-party content similar to popular OTT services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

YouTube to Feature Content from Third-Party Services

The platform plans to integrate paid content from services such as Paramount and Max into its TV app, according to reports from Tom’s Guide, citing a report by The Information. This is not a completely new concept, as YouTube has been exploring this idea since 2022. In November of that year, YouTube introduced the Primetime Channels feature within the Movies and TV Hub, providing users with access to content from over 30 channels, including SHOWTIME, STARZ, Paramount Plus, Vix Plus, and AMC Plus.

Despite this initial attempt, the project was put on hold due to low user engagement. However, YouTube is now planning to revive the initiative with an updated approach. The redesigned app will focus on making it easier for users to discover content from various subscription-based services. The new layout will feature shows organized in "rows," similar to how content is displayed on platforms like Prime Video and Disney Plus, providing a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.
