WhatsApp for Android May Soon Get a Redesigned Meta AI Interface with Voice Mode and Prompt Suggestions

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): WhatsApp for Android may soon introduce a redesigned Meta AI interface, bringing several new features to the messaging platform. According to leaks, the instant messaging app is working on a new design for the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, which includes an automatic voice mode and prompt suggestions to help users interact with the AI more easily. These features are still in development and are not available to beta testers yet.
Meta AI Redesign in WhatsApp Beta
WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo revealed that the app is working on enhancing the Meta AI experience for Android users. The updated interface was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta version 2.25.5.22, though it remains unavailable for testing at the moment. The new design places the Meta AI icon in the bottom-right corner of WhatsApp’s chat screen. When long-pressed, this icon opens a new interface for Meta AI, which also triggers the voice mode.
Unlike the existing chat window, this new interface takes up a significant portion of the screen, showing the Meta AI logo with the word “listening” underneath. Users can then speak directly to the AI or ask it questions. Android users will also see a green microphone icon in the status bar to indicate that the device’s microphone is in use.
Voice Mode and Text Mode Switching
The feature tracker notes that users can easily switch between voice mode and text mode by tapping the microphone button or by typing in the text field. In voice mode, Meta AI listens to the user until they exit the interface, at which point the session ends. The new design also includes prompt suggestions to help users get started with conversations.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that Meta AI would receive significant upgrades in 2025, which suggests even more features and improvements may be on the horizon for WhatsApp users.
