New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): WhatsApp is set to launch a new badge count feature to enhance user experience and simplify chat organization. This feature will display a numerical badge alongside chat filters indicating the number of unread messages in each category such as All, Unread, Favorites or Groups. For instance, if a user has six unread messages in their chat list, the badge will show "6" next to the "Unread" filter. This update aims to assist users in managing messages more effectively, especially those who receive hundreds of messages daily.

Currently available to select Android beta testers, the badge count feature is being rolled out gradually through the WhatsApp beta version. Users who don’t see it yet can expect the feature to become widely available in future stable updates. The badge count provides an at-a-glance overview of unread messages allowing users to prioritize responses and avoid missing important conversations. This update is expected to streamline communication for both personal and group chats.

WhatsApp has been consistently enhancing its platform with new features. Recently, the app introduced the ability to schedule events for individual chats and is preparing to roll out a document scanning feature. The latter will allow users to scan documents directly within the app, adjust margins, preview files and share them seamlessly. These updates highlight WhatsApp's commitment to improving its functionality and user convenience.
