iPhone 17 Air: Apple’s Thinnest iPhone Yet with Key Performance and Design Enhancements

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Apple reportedly considered removing the charging port entirely in the upcoming iPhone 17 Air, aiming for a fully wireless design. However, the company decided against this plan, as per a Bloomberg report. Instead, Apple made several internal changes to enhance the device's efficiency.
The iPhone 17 Air will be incredibly thin, measuring just 5.5mm in thickness—thinner than the iPhone 6’s 6.9mm. To achieve this, Apple made some hardware adjustments, such as using a single rear camera setup. The camera will include a 48MP main sensor and a 24MP front-facing camera. The device will also have a 6.6-inch display with ProMotion technology, offering up to 120Hz dynamic refresh rates.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 Air will feature the next-generation A19 series chip and Apple's in-house C1 modem chip, first seen on the iPhone 16e.
This model is expected to replace the iPhone 17 Plus in Apple's lineup, with an estimated starting price of around $900, similar to the iPhone 16 Plus, which costs $899 in the US.
Despite not removing the charging port, Apple has made software and hardware optimizations to improve battery life, even with a smaller battery due to the thinner design. The iPhone 17 Air showcases Apple's balance between innovative design and practical functionality, offering a slim, efficient device.
