New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A professor from AIIMS Delhi has praised Blinkit’s 10-minute ambulance service, calling it a “healthcare revolution” for India. Professor Deepak Agrawal, a Neurosurgery expert at AIIMS, shared his experience on LinkedIn after a patient was brought to the AIIMS Trauma Centre using Blinkit’s ambulance service.

Agrawal highlighted the basic life support (BLS) services provided during transit, such as C-spine stabilization with a hard cervical collar, suctioning for excessive secretions, and the use of a Non-Rebreather Mask (NRBM) for low oxygen saturation. "This is the kind of service we used to read about and see in developed countries," he said, emphasizing the significance of such services in India.

Blinkit’s ambulance service, launched on January 2, promises to bring emergency medical access to more people. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the launch of the service with its first five ambulances in Gurugram and plans to expand the service to other areas soon. Through the Blinkit app, users can book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance, equipped with essential life-saving equipment like oxygen cylinders, AEDs, stretchers, and suction machines, as well as staffed with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver.

Blinkit, owned by Eternals Ltd (formerly Zomato), acquired Blinkit (formerly Grofers) in 2021, expanding its quick commerce offerings to include services like grocery delivery and now, emergency medical services. The move marks another significant step in the company’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and services for Indian consumers.
