Apple to Roll Out AI-Powered App Review Summaries on the App Store with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 Updates

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Apple is set to roll out AI-powered app review summaries on the App Store as part of the upcoming iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 software updates, currently available in public beta. This new feature will use Apple Intelligence to generate concise summaries based on the overall user reviews of apps, helping users make informed decisions.

The app review summaries will be created using large language models (LLMs) and will highlight key information in a brief paragraph. For apps with sufficient reviews, the summaries will be updated weekly. However, Apple has not disclosed the specific number of reviews needed for a summary to be generated. Users can report any issues with the reviews by tapping and holding on them, and developers will be able to notify Apple about any problems via App Store Connect.

Initially, the feature will be available in the U.S., with a gradual rollout to other regions over the year. AI-generated summaries are expected to be available to the public in April, along with the official software release.

In addition to the app review summaries, the iOS 18.4 update will include several other new features:

- Priority Notifications: Apple Intelligence will prioritize important notifications on the Lock Screen, but this will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and newer.

- Ambient Music: Users can quickly play curated music from categories such as Sleep, Chill, Productivity, and Wellbeing through the Control Center.

- Expanded Apple Intelligence Language Support: The update will include support for more languages, including English (India), French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.

- Image Playground: A new sketch drawing style will join the existing Animation and Illustration styles in the Image Playground feature, allowing users to generate images from text descriptions.

The update promises to enhance the user experience by providing more personalized insights and expanding the capabilities of Apple Intelligence across its ecosystem.
