Android Auto 14.1 Update to Allow Users to Play Select Games on Car Displays

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Google is set to revolutionize the user experience in cars with Android Auto, a feature typically used for GPS navigation and music. Soon, it could also allow users to play Android games. As reported by 9To5Google, the tech giant has started rolling out Android Auto version 14.1, which introduces support for select Android games that can be played on a car's display.
Android Auto 14.1 Update: Gaming Support
The new feature, available through the Android Auto beta program, enables certain installed games to be played directly on the car's screen. As part of its testing, 9To5Google found that popular games like *Angry Birds 2* and *Beach Buggy Racing* were playable, but only when the vehicle was parked. Once the car shifted out of park mode, the game automatically closed and became inaccessible within the app drawer and switcher.
Currently, the supported games on Android Auto include:
- Farm Heroes Saga
- Candy Crush Soda Saga
- Angry Birds 2
- Beach Buggy Racing
Availability and Future Rollout
While game support is presently limited to the Android Auto 14.1 beta version, Google is likely to expand the list of compatible games over time. However, it remains unclear how this feature will be rolled out to all users. The stable release of Android Auto 14.1 is expected in the coming weeks, though it is possible that Google may choose to keep the feature exclusive to beta versions for the time being.
As Android Auto 14.0 has only just launched in the stable track, more details on the rollout and expansion of this feature may be revealed soon.
