Farmers in Charkhi Dadri Worried After Nature’s Fury Destroys Crops

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A devastating hailstorm struck Charkhi Dadri on Friday night, causing extensive damage to mustard, wheat, and vegetable crops. The sudden change in weather, accompanied by heavy rain and hail, left crops of wheat and mustard scattered on the ground. Upon witnessing the destruction, farmers were deeply concerned. Agriculture Department teams are being dispatched to assess the damage, and a report will be prepared for submission to the government.
The storm, which hit late Friday evening, caused significant losses in the Badhra area, where mustard, wheat, and vegetables were severely affected. Mustard and wheat, which were nearly ripe, were especially hard-hit. Farmers like Jai Bhagwan, Sanjay Kumar, and Ram Singh reported the devastation to their crops and called for immediate special Girdawari (survey) and proper compensation.
Agriculture Officer Dr. Chandrabhan Sheoran confirmed the damage to wheat, mustard, and vegetables due to the hailstorm and rain. He stated that teams from the Agriculture Department will conduct damage assessments, estimating a potential loss of over 25% of crops. However, areas affected only by rain are expected to benefit from improved conditions for Rabi crops.
