Virat Kohli’s Bold Statement Shakes BCCI—Will the Rule Finally Change?

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A dispute has been ongoing between the BCCI and cricketers regarding bringing their families along on tours. However, reports now suggest that the BCCI is likely to soften its stance on this rule.
According to media reports, the BCCI is planning to modify the existing regulations concerning players' families accompanying them on foreign tours. Under the new rules, players may seek permission from the BCCI if they wish to bring their families on major tours. Recently, veteran cricketer and former Indian captain Virat Kohli had spoken out against the current restrictions, and now sources indicate that the board is considering a revision.
It is worth noting that after India's crushing defeat in the Australia Test series, the BCCI introduced a strict travel policy for all players. This policy significantly reduced the presence of family members during overseas tours. As per the current regulations, players are allowed to bring their wives, children, or family members for only two weeks. However, top players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were reportedly unhappy with this restriction, prompting the BCCI to reconsider. Recently, Virat Kohli stated that during major matches or difficult phases, being around family helps players reduce stress. Several cricketing legends supported his views. Now, it appears that the BCCI is ready to relax the rule, offering more flexibility to the players.
