Shubman Gill Strikes Gold Again – Wins Another Prestigious ICC Award!

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Team India’s star batsman and ODI vice-captain Shubman Gill has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February, beating Australia’s Steve Smith and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips. This is Gill’s third time winning the award, having previously won it twice in 2023.
Gill’s stellar form in February saw him score 406 runs in five ODIs at an average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. He played a key role in India’s 3-0 series win against England, scoring 87 in Nagpur, 60 in Cuttack, and a match-winning 112 in Ahmedabad. His century, which included 14 fours and 3 sixes, earned him Player of the Series honors.
In the Champions Trophy, he continued his brilliance with an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh and 46 against Pakistan, helping India secure two crucial wins. Recognized as a future leader, Gill is expected to be promoted in BCCI’s central contract revision. Currently in Grade B with an annual salary of ₹3 crore, he may be upgraded to Grade A+, increasing his earnings to ₹7 crore.
