Gurugram (The Uttam Hindu): Rotary Club of Delhi Shine successfully hosted the Unity Cricket Cup (UCC), a mega cricket tournament for Rotary Clubs of District 3011 on December 1, 2024 at Rotary Public School, Gurugram. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 14 Rotary Clubs bringing together approximately 400 Rotarians.

The participating clubs were: RC Delhi Aura, RC Delhi Dynamic, RC Delhi Govinda, RC Delhi Okhla City, RC Delhi West, RC Delhi West Metro, RC Faridabad Aravalli, RC Faridabad Grace, RC Faridabad NIT, RC Faridabad NIT Next, RC Faridabad Prerna, RC Gurgaon Civil Lines, RC Gurugram Cosmopolitan and RC Palwal Parivar.

The tournament commenced at 7:30 AM with knockout matches of 4 overs each featuring 8 players per team. President of RC Delhi Shine, Rtn. Ankit Monga, presented the “Man of the Match” and “Fighter of the Match” awards after each game. District Governor Rtn. Dr. Mahesh P. Trikha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. During the opening ceremony at 11:30 AM, President Monga welcomed DG Trikha, AG Rtn. Vinod Sawhney, and all attendees. DG Trikha emphasized the importance of sports and unity in his address.

The final match, a 6-over contest, saw RC Palwal Parivar emerge victorious against RC Faridabad Aravalli. RC Palwal Parivar received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- and the UCC Trophy, while RC Faridabad Aravalli received Rs. 15,000/- as the first runner-up. Individual awards for “Man of the Tournament,” “Best Batsman” and “Best Bowler” were also presented. All players received participation certificates, medals, team jerseys and sponsor leaflets. A total of 74 awards, 274 medals and 380 certificates were distributed. The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors including Title Sponsor Rupy Fashions, Silver Sponsors Health Care Insurance and Accent HRP, Clothing Bag Sponsor Luxxarc International, Digital Partner Prateek Studios and Balls Sponsor Kronos.

The UCC organizing team comprised members of RC Delhi Shine, including Rtn. Shaurya Singhal, Rtn. Harshit Jain, Rtn. Praveen Bhargava, Rtn. Ishaan Lamba, Rtn. Aditya Garg and Rtn. Harkriti Gangwani along with Rotaractors from RaC CVS, RaC Maharaja Agarsain, RaC Northcap University, RaC SBSC and RaC TIPS, Dwarka. The Rotaractors were recognized for their contributions during the valedictory program. President Monga concluded the event with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participating teams, Rotaract clubs and guests for making UCC 2024 a resounding success.
