No unrest in dressing room, says Gambhir's coach Sanjay Bhardwaj
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir's childhood coach Sanjay Bhardwaj has dismissed rumors of unrest within the Indian camp following the team's 184-run loss to Australia in the Boxing Day Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Amid growing speculation of internal issues Gambhir had already clarified that these reports were false.
Bhardwaj echoed Gambhir's sentiments stating that such rumors typically surface after a team’s defeat. He emphasized that Gambhir remains focused on getting the best out of the team and recognizes both the potential of experienced players and newcomers alike. "There is no rift in the team," he affirmed. He also noted that Rohit Sharma, the captain, is dissatisfied with his own form but remains committed to the team's success.
Ahead of the fifth and final Test of the series in Sydney Gambhir addressed the media underscoring the importance of honesty within the dressing room. He assured that Indian cricket remains in safe hands as long as honest players are part of the team. When asked about Rohit's inclusion in the playing XI Gambhir refrained from confirming emphasizing that the final team selection would depend on the pitch conditions. The final Test will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground with Australia currently leading the series 2-1.
