Indian Women's Team Clinches Inaugural World Cup Title in Kho-Kho
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a historic achievement, the Indian women's Kho Kho team emerged as the champions of the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup by defeating Nepal in the final on January 19, 2025. India triumphed with an outstanding score of 78-22 demonstrating their superiority throughout the tournament.
The final match, held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi saw the Indian team display remarkable skill and strategy. While the game was closely contested at the start, India soon built a commanding lead excelling especially in the second and third turns. Captain Priyanka Ingale played a crucial role, contributing significantly to the team's success with several touch points.
Earlier, in the semifinals India had sealed their spot in the final by defeating South Africa decisively with a score of 66-16. This victory not only marks a landmark achievement for Indian women's sports but also sets a strong precedent for future Kho Kho competitions.
