India Takes 4-Run Lead After Dismissing Australia for 181 on Day 2 of Fifth Test at SCG
Sydney (The Uttam Hindu): In the ongoing fifth Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, India has taken a slim lead, dismissing Australia for 181 runs and securing a 4-run advantage. The match has been marked by exceptional bowling performances, particularly from Jasprit Bumrah who played a key role in breaking down the Australian batting line-up.
Day 2 began with India aiming to build on their first innings total of 185, and they immediately made strides into the Australian batting order. Bumrah dismissed Marnus Labuschagne early while Mohammed Siraj followed up with two crucial wickets, removing Sam Konstas and Travis Head in quick succession. Prasidh Krishna added to the pressure by claiming the wicket of Alex Carey leaving Australia in a tough position at 137/6.
Despite the setbacks, Australia tried to recover with partnerships forming between Beau Webster and Steve Smith. However, India's bowlers kept the pressure on and did not allow the Australian batsmen to take control. The day saw a total of 9 wickets fall, emphasizing the challenging conditions for batting at the SCG.
