New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A cricketing legend has officially retired as India’s wicketkeeper, Wriddhiman Saha, brings his illustrious 18-year career to a close with the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy. His final match took place in the encounter between Bengal and Punjab. Saha had previously announced his retirement, confirming that this season of the Ranji Trophy would be his last. On the second day of the match against Punjab, Saha received a guard of honor from his Bengal teammates.

Saha’s professional career began in 2007, and he represented India from 2010 to 2021 in international cricket. He had already retired from international cricket and now bids farewell to domestic cricket. Bengal defeated Punjab by an innings and 13 runs in this match, giving Saha a victory to conclude his career. However, Saha’s performance with the bat was disappointing, as he failed to score in his final innings.

An Emotional Farewell from Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha shared a heartfelt message upon his retirement: “It has been 28 years since I began my cricket journey (since 1997). Representing my country, state, district, clubs, university, college, and school over these years has been a tremendous honor. Everything I am today and everything I have is because of cricket. This has been an incredible journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs, memorable achievements, and joyous moments that have shaped me as a person. All things must come to an end, which is why I’ve decided to retire from all forms of cricket. I now look forward to spending the rest of my life with my family and friends.”
