Mumbai (Uttam Hindu News): Indian cricket's greatest batsman and former captain Sachin Tendulkar will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This honour will be given at the BCCI's annual function. Sachin Tendulkar has scored a total of 34,357 runs in 664 international matches at an average of 48.52 during his illustrious career, making him the highest run-scorer in international cricket. He has scored 15,921 runs (53.78 average) in Test cricket and 18,426 runs (44.83 average) in ODI cricket. Apart from this, Tendulkar has also participated in one T20 international. His career includes a total of 100 centuries and 164 half-centuries. A BCCI source said, Sachin will be honored with the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2024. Earlier, former India head coach Ravi Shastri and former legendary wicketkeeper Farooq Engineer also received this award. Tendulkar made his Test debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16 and represented the Indian team for two decades. He was part of India's world-winning team in 2011, which was his sixth and last ODI World Cup.

Tendulkar is recognised in cricket circles not only as an outstanding run-scorer but also as an icon of the game. Many legendary bowlers have praised him and said that he could turn the match around at any moment. Opposing teams used special strategies against Tendulkar, and many former great bowlers believe that playing against Tendulkar was the most challenging task. Overall, Tendulkar is the 31st player to receive the award. The award was instituted in 1994 in honour of India's first captain Col CK Naidu, who had a first-class career spanning 47 years from 1916 to 1963, a world record.
