Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab government has suspended 52 police officers involved in corruption, including personnel ranging from constables to inspectors. This move comes just two days after the suspension of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Muktasar. Punjab's Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, shared the update during a press conference. He stated that the police force would adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. "We will not tolerate any 'black sheep' within the police force," he emphasized.

In addition, a process similar to that of the Delhi Police will be implemented in Punjab. Within a month, the electronic FIR (E-FIR) system will be introduced for motor vehicle thefts. This new initiative will be part of a larger push towards making Punjab's police system more citizen-friendly. The state police will expand its online services from 43 to around 60, allowing citizens to access services either through Saanjh centers or from the comfort of their homes. Furthermore, an e-police station at the state level will be notified soon to handle this initiative. The state's efforts aim to streamline services and make the police system more transparent and accessible to the public.
