Sukhbir Badal’s 2019 Election Victory Was Under Threat: Major Relief as Punjab and Haryana High Court Delivers Surprising Ruling!
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Sukhbir Singh Badal, the prominent Shiromani Akali Dal leader, has received a major boost from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court has dismissed a petition that challenged his 2019 Lok Sabha election victory from Firozpur, which had been filed by independent candidate Kashmir Singh.
The legal battle, which had been ongoing for a while, revolved around allegations that Badal had failed to provide a detailed account of his election expenses. Kashmir Singh, the petitioner, had claimed that Badal's failure to disclose this crucial information should lead to the cancellation of his election. After hearing both sides, the court, on September 20, reserved its decision and has now ruled in Badal's favor, rejecting the petition.
In the 2019 elections, Badal defeated Sher Singh Ghubaya from the Congress party to secure his seat in the Lok Sabha. The court's ruling now puts an end to this legal challenge, offering Badal a major sigh of relief as he continues his political journey.
