Amritsar(The Uttam Hindu):The Punjab Police have detained the mother and sister of gangster Happy Panchi in connection with a bomb scare outside the Ajnala Police Station. The arrests occurred late Tuesday night, and the accused, Bhupinder Kaur and Kirandeep Kaur, were later presented in Ajnala Court on Wednesday. The court granted the police a five-day remand to further investigate the matter.
According to sources, the arrests followed the discovery of critical evidence linking the women to the incident. Their mobile phones have been sent for forensic analysis to gather more details about their involvement in the bomb scare.
CCTV footage from the scene shows two individuals riding a motorcycle and planting the bomb outside the police station. Authorities are scrutinizing this footage to identify the suspects.
In response to the scare, security measures have been enhanced at all rural police stations in Amritsar. A checkpoint has been established at the Kathunangal Toll Plaza, where bomb squad teams have conducted a comprehensive inspection.
This incident follows last year’s high-profile standoff at the Ajnala Police Station, involving Amritpal Singh and his supporters who attempted to seize the station. The latest bomb scare has raised further concerns regarding the station’s security and its vulnerability to such attacks.
