Shiromani Akali Dal Officially Accepts Sukhbir Badal’s Resignation, Looks Ahead to New Membership Drive

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working Committee has officially accepted the resignation of Sukhbir Badal, former party president. During the meeting, the committee expressed its appreciation for Sukhbir Badal’s leadership and thanked him for his services as the party president.

The meeting was chaired by Acting President Balwinder Singh Bhundar, who oversaw the decision to accept Badal's resignation. While Sukhbir Badal had already stepped down from the position, the resignation was formally accepted following the orders issued by Sri Akal Takht Sahib on December 2. The executive was instructed to accept the resignation and notify the Akal Takht Secretariat. However, Akali leaders had requested additional time for the executive meeting, which was granted, citing religious services.

A comprehensive discussion on Badal’s resignation also took place during the meeting with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Furthermore, it was announced that a membership drive would be launched in the upcoming year, focusing on enrolling trusted grassroots workers and individuals loyal to the party leadership.
