New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A frightening robbery occurred on Friday afternoon in Jalandhar’s upscale Sri Guru Gobind Singh Avenue when a robber entered a house after noticing the door open. The women inside screamed in fear when they saw him, but as they rushed to the gate, the robber grabbed 65-year-old Neelam Gupta from behind, forced her against the gate, and struck her hand with a sharp weapon—likely a chisel—causing a serious cut.

The shocking incident was captured on CCTV, which aided the police in tracking down the suspect. Lumma Pind resident Rajan was arrested in connection with the crime. Rama Mandi police station in-charge, Parminder Singh, confirmed the arrest and added that the stolen mobile phone and the weapon used in the attack had been recovered.

The robbery has sent shockwaves through the community, and there is now a heightened sense of panic in the colony. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Avenue is part of an area that consists of six colonies developed on land from the Municipal Improvement Trust. In response to the incident, local residents’ associations have demanded increased security from the police.

ACP Central Nirmal Singh assured the public that the robber was in custody, a case had been filed, and the stolen mobile phone and weapon had been recovered. The local community is hoping that this crime will prompt the authorities to take stronger security measures to prevent future incidents. The terrifying experience has left the residents feeling vulnerable, stressing the need for more proactive policing in the area.
