Punjab weather update: rain alert issued for 14 Districts, Temperature set to drop

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): A yellow alert has been issued in Punjab today due to the likelihood of rain and strong winds with showers already recorded in several districts since last night. The state's average maximum temperature has dropped by 1.1 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours, though it remains 3.5 degrees Celsius above normal. The highest temperature in Punjab was recorded in Patiala at 27.8 degrees Celsius. These weather changes are attributed to the activation of the Western Disturbance.
On Wednesday, most cities in Punjab experienced cloudy conditions. According to the Meteorological Department, a yellow alert has been issued for rainfall in Pathankot, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, Sangrur, Patiala, Mansa and Bathinda.
With the Western Disturbance active, temperatures across Punjab have been on a downward trend, which is expected to continue today. However, the weather is forecasted to remain dry for the next week, leading to a gradual rise in temperature.
City-specific forecasts indicate that Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Mohali will all experience rain today. In these cities, while the minimum temperature is expected to rise slightly, the maximum temperature will see a decline. Expected temperature ranges for the day include 10-23 degrees Celsius in Amritsar and Jalandhar, 12-23 degrees in Ludhiana, 12-25 degrees in Patiala, and 15-24 degrees in Mohali.
As Punjab faces fluctuating weather conditions, residents are advised to stay informed about further updates and take necessary precautions during the rain and temperature drops.
