Punjab Government to Launch Significant Initiative for Women
Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab government will soon initiate a significant exercise for women's empowerment across the state. To strengthen and raise the income of sericulturists, handicraft artisans, self-help groups, and especially women, working in the silk industries, the Silk Expo-2024 will be held. Punjab's Horticulture Minister, Mohinder Bhagat, said that the fair will be held from 4 to 9 December 2024 at Kisan Bhawan, Sector-35, Chandigarh.
He further added that the expo is being managed in collaboration with the Silk Mark Organization of India and the Horticulture Department of Punjab. Bhagat explained that the artisans from different Indian states, along with the registered institutions and associations under the Silk Board, would set up stalls showcasing a wide range of silk products at the event.
