Punjab Chief Engineer Denied BBMB Secretary Post, Surinder Singh Mittal to Assume Charge

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A Chief Engineer from Punjab's Water Resources Department, Dr. Harinderpal Singh Bedi, was denied the opportunity to join as the Secretary of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). Despite receiving official orders to take up the position, Dr. Bedi's joining report was submitted to the Chairman of BBMB on February 28, 2025. However, on the same day, BBMB issued a letter to the Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department, stating that the Secretary's position was not vacant as of February 28, 2025, and therefore, Dr. Bedi could not join.

In contrast, separate orders issued by the OSD Chairman of BBMB, Surinder Singh Mittal, appointed him as the Secretary, with instructions for him to assume office on March 1, 2025, while also taking on the additional charge of OSD Chairman.
