Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu) : Many decisions were given the green signal in the cabinet meeting of the Punjab government today. This meeting was held at the residence of CM Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh. The government approved the resumption of the Chief Minister's pilgrimage. Along with this, a decision has been taken to start a mentorship program in 80 schools of eminence in the state.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme has been approved. Under this scheme, people aged 50 years or above will be taken on pilgrimage to religious places. The government has allocated a fund of Rs 100 crore for this scheme. Registration for the scheme will start at the end of April and the pilgrimages will start from May. Along with this, Cheema said that the government has established 118 Schools of Eminence to improve the education sector. The department has selected 80 schools in these Schools of Eminence. In which the School Mentorship Program has been started, under which the officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) posted in Punjab will adopt one school each for five years. They will go to schools and meet the children. This will establish an emotional bond with the schools. They will guide the students. This will develop in them the feeling of going into civil service and serving the country.

At the same time, amendment of Mining and Crusher Policy 2023 was approved in the meeting. In this, a decision has been taken to reduce the gap between demand and supply, stop illegal mining, increase revenue and provide sand and gravel to the people at cheap rates. Earlier, public mining site and commercial mining site were included in it. While now three new categories have been added. In this, the first category crusher mining site has been included. In this scheme, crusher owners who have their own land will be able to use their land or take land on lease. They will pay royalty to the government. A fixed limit will be fixed, according to which they will be able to do mining. The second land owner category was created. In this category, farmers who have sand available in their fields will also be able to sell sand themselves. They will be able to sell through the group or at the site themselves. DC will take a decision regarding government land.
