New FIR Filed in Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath Assault Case, SIT Formed for Investigation

Patiala (The Uttam Hindu): A significant development has occurred in the case involving the assault on Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath and his son, as a new FIR (No. 69) was filed on March 21, 2025, following Colonel Bath’s statement at the Civil Lines Police Station in Patiala. In his statement, Colonel Baath identified the police officers responsible for the attack and provided details of each officer's role.
In response, a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to look into the matter. The team will be led by S.P.S. Parmar, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Punjab and will include Sandeep Malik, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hoshiarpur and Manpreet Singh, Superintendent of Police (Rural) SAS Nagar. The SIT has been instructed to collect evidence and conduct daily investigations to ensure that legal action is taken against the culprits.
A Punjab Police spokesperson stated that the DIG of Patiala Range has been directed to immediately transfer the involved police officers out of Patiala district to ensure an unbiased investigation. The spokesperson also confirmed that all 12 officers involved have been suspended and departmental proceedings have been initiated against them, with severe penalties expected. Additionally, the Additional Director General of Police (Security), Punjab, has been ordered to provide sufficient security for Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath’s family.
