Bhogpur murder: Trio arrested, including mastermind behind the crime

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): The Jalandhar (Rural) police have successfully resolved the high-profile murder case in Bhogpur with the arrest of three individuals, including the mastermind and two accomplices. The main suspect, identified as Arun Kumar (alias Aru), was apprehended at Chandigarh International Airport while attempting to flee to Dubai. This arrest followed a thorough month-long investigation into the brutal murder of Jaspal Singh (alias Shalu), who was shot three times in the head near Moga Gate in Bhogpur on September 22.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh disclosed that the murder was meticulously planned, stemming from personal enmity due to past confrontations. Special investigation teams, led by SP (Investigation) Jasroop Kaur Bath, DSP Kulwant Singh, and Inspector Sikander Singh Virk, conducted extensive raids before successfully locating Arun at the airport. The police had issued lookout circulars at all airports, which aided in tracking his movements.
In addition to Arun Kumar, two other suspects, Mandeep Kumar (alias Mani) and Ranjit Kumar (alias Kaka Baiya), were arrested, along with three earlier accomplices: Ravi Kumar, Gurjit Singh, and Gurpreet Singh. The police seized several firearms, including the murder weapon, and discovered that Ranjit Kumar was linked to an interstate arms supply network. The investigation continues, with the police seeking extended remand for the suspects to delve deeper into the arms trafficking operations and any potential involvement of additional individuals in the murder plot.
