Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu):The Lawrence Gang has claimed responsibility for two low-intensity explosions outside two popular nightclubs in Sector 26, Chandigarh, just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to the city on December 3, 2024. The blasts, which occurred early Tuesday morning, are allegedly linked to an extortion attempt after nightclub owners failed to pay protection money.

The explosions targeted Seville Bar and Lounge and De’Ora Club, both located close to each other in Sector 26. Seville Bar and Lounge is partially owned by famous rapper Badshah, which has added further intrigue to the case. The blasts shattered glass windows outside both establishments, but fortunately, no casualties were reported, as both nightclubs were closed at the time.

Goldy Brar, an associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, took to social media to claim responsibility for the blasts. In his post, Brar stated, "Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara of the Lawrence Gang take responsibility for the two blasts. We had sent messages to the owners of these two clubs for protection money, but they did not respond. We carried out these blasts to make them listen. Whoever ignores our calls should understand that something bigger could happen next time."

While the authenticity of this claim is yet to be fully verified, the police are actively investigating the incident. Authorities have found that the bombs used in the attack were crude devices, commonly known as "sutli bombs," filled with nails and flammable material. CCTV footage from the area shows a youth on a motorcycle throwing the explosive towards one of the clubs around 3:15 AM. A loud explosion followed, and the suspect quickly fled the scene.

The police investigation has revealed that the bombs were designed to cause property damage rather than injuries. The materials used in the explosives have been recovered from the scene. Additionally, the police are exploring the extortion angle behind the attack, as the Lawrence Gang appears to have targeted the nightclubs over unpaid protection money.

While Seville Bar and Lounge, owned in part by Badshah, has garnered significant attention due to the rapper’s involvement, police officials have emphasized that both nightclubs were targeted because of the owners’ alleged refusal to meet the gang’s extortion demands. The blast took place outside De’Ora Club, which is located just 30 meters from Seville Bar and Lounge.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack, reviewing evidence and surveillance footage, with the ultimate goal of identifying the perpetrators and determining the full extent of their intentions.
