Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): In a major political upset, former Jalandhar Mayor Jagdish Raja, who joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with his wife Anita just days before the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Elections 2024, lost his bid for Ward Number 64. Raja’s wife Anita also contested in the elections from Ward Number 65, representing the AAP.

BJP candidate Rajeev Kumar Dhingra emerged victorious in Ward 64, securing a win against Raja. The Municipal Corporation elections in Jalandhar concluded at 4 pm, with voting taking place across 670 polling stations set up by the district administration.

As of 3 pm on election day, the voter turnout in Jalandhar stood at 42.56 percent. The defeat marks a significant setback for the AAP in the region, especially with the high-profile induction of Jagdish Raja and Anita shortly before the elections.
