Education Revolution Led by CM Mann Boosts Enrollment in Punjab Government Schools

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched Punjab Education Revolution to improve the infrastructure in all government schools. Under this, the state government is committed to make 118 government senior secondary schools schools of eminence, which are being equipped with smart classrooms, state-of-the-art labs and playgrounds for scientific education. Due to the efforts of the state government, enrollment in pre-primary classes in government schools has increased by about 17 percent. A special program has been started to increase the efficiency of teachers, under which teachers and principals are being sent abroad for training so that they can get acquainted with modern techniques of teaching to prepare students for international level competitions. Recently, a team of experts from the University of Turku, Finland, reached Punjab and participated in the training program organized by the Punjab School Education Department.
In this, the Finland team trained 296 primary teachers of the state so that students can be relieved of stress by using new techniques in teaching. Moreover, it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that the state government has removed all legal and administrative hurdles and regularized the services of 12,710 teachers by eliminating the term contractualism attached to the posts of government employees. Regularization of services will provide these teachers with 5 per cent annual hike in salary along with other benefits including holidays. This decision has ensured that these teachers become active participants in the socio-economic development of the state.
