New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Acting on intelligence inputs, Counter Intelligence Pathankot has successfully busted an illegal arms smuggling module, leading to the arrest of two individuals, Kanwalpreet Singh alias Kanwar and Ranjit Singh. The authorities recovered four pistols along with ammunition during the operation.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Kanwalpreet was in contact with a US-based gangster, Pavitar Singh Chaura, who is believed to have arranged the consignment.

An FIR has been registered at SSOC Amritsar under Sections 25 and 61(2) BNS of the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to trace both the forward and backward links and dismantle the entire network.

The recovered arms include:

- One Glock Pistol 9MM with 01 magazine and 15 cartridges of 9MM

- One 30-bore pistol with 01 magazine and 09 cartridges of 30 bore

- Two 32-bore pistols with 02 magazines and 15 cartridges of 32 bore.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to fully unravel the network involved in this illegal arms trade.
