BJP's Preneet Kaur Protests Outside SSP Office Over Panchayat Election Shooting
Patiala (The Uttam Hindu): Former Patiala MP and BJP leader Preneet Kaur has initiated a hunger strike and staged a sit-in protest outside the SSP office, accompanied by BJP Mahila Morcha chief Jai Indra Kaur and other party leaders. The protest aims to hold the government accountable for its inaction regarding violence that occurred during the recent panchayat elections. During these elections, a youth was injured by gunfire in the village of Khudda in Sanaur, prompting BJP leaders to demand the identification and arrest of the shooter. Preneet Kaur had previously protested in Sanaur, warning that if the accused was not apprehended promptly, the movement would escalate significantly.
On Monday, Kaur visited Dana Mandi in Patiala to review the paddy procurement process, where she faced protests from farmers. Farmer leaders expressed their grievances, stating that they have set up a permanent protest outside her residence, but Kaur did not address their concerns. Nevertheless, she asserted her commitment to standing with the farmers, vowing to continue fighting for their rights and stating her intention to visit the mandis in the future. She also mentioned that her government has released ₹4,500 crore to support farmers.
