Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its candidate list for the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation elections. The updated list features candidates for Ward Numbers 16, 34, and 61, marking a critical step as today is the final day for filing nominations.

In a significant development, the BJP has made revisions to its earlier list. In Ward 16, Neerja Jain, who was initially allotted the ticket, has been replaced by Amarjeet Singh Goldy. This adjustment reflects strategic changes by the party as it finalizes its roster of candidates. Earlier, the BJP had released a list covering 79 of the 85 wards, leaving candidates for six wards—28, 34, 48, 53, 61, and 65—yet to be decided. With the latest update, three of these wards have now been addressed, though the remaining wards await candidate announcements.

The elections, scheduled to cover 85 wards under the jurisdiction of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, have seen candidates and political parties scrambling to complete their nomination processes. Despite the administration setting up 12 designated locations for filing nominations, confusion prevailed among many aspirants, adding to the urgency of the day’s proceedings. The BJP's changes and final confirmations are expected to influence the party's campaign strategy as the election date draws nearer.
