New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Two suspected criminals allegedly involved in the recent blast outside the non-functional Fatehgarh police post were injured in a brief encounter with city police after attempting to escape from police custody on Sunday night. The two along with a third suspect were arrested near the Rajasansi area around 11 pm. According to reports the suspects attempted to escape by snatching a pistol from ASI Gurjit Singh leading to a brief confrontation. In the ensuing exchange of fire the two suspects were injured. The police also seized an AK-47 rifle a .30-bore Glock pistol and a .32-bore pistol from the three accused. Authorities had received a tip-off that the suspects believed to be involved in the Fatehgarh Churian police post blast on February 3 were heading towards the Rajasansi area. Police teams acted swiftly arresting the suspects. However two of them attempted to flee and fired at the police. In response the police fired back injuring the two men.

Police Commissioner Bhullar confirmed that the trio was part of a terror module linked to gangster-turned-terrorist Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passian. The suspects were identified as Lovepreet Singh Karandeep Singh and Buta Singh all residents of the Amritsar rural belt. Karandeep and Buta Singh were injured in the retaliatory firing.

Additionally the police revealed that they had received a packet containing explosives which had been used in the February 3 blast outside the Fatehgarh police post. Buta Singh had allegedly hired Lovepreet and Karandeep on Happy Passian's instructions. As the investigation continues the police are working to uncover more details regarding the criminal network and its operations. The successful capture of the suspects has raised hopes that further terror activities may be prevented.

And so, this dangerous plot is far from over — will the police unravel more layers of this sinister network or is this just the tip of the iceberg? Only time will tell.
