Amritsar: 2 Arrested, 8 Pistols Seized in International Arms Smuggling Operation
Amritsar(The Uttam Hindu):The Amritsar Counter Intelligence team has successfully dismantled an international arms smuggling network, arresting two smugglers with weapons in their possession. A case has been registered against the accused under the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC).
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav shared the details, revealing that the arrests took place near Naurpur Level, close to Garinda. The two suspects were reportedly waiting to hand over a consignment of weapons smuggled from Pakistan to another buyer. However, the police had prior intelligence and managed to arrest them before the transaction took place.
The seized weapons include eight modern firearms: four Glock pistols made in Austria, two Turkish-made 9mm LL pistols, two Zignana .30 caliber pistols, and 10 rounds of ammunition. Authorities have stated that further members of this criminal gang will be apprehended soon.
