Akal Takht's Verdict Shakes SAD: Rebel Movement Ends, Leaders Urged to Unite
Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): In a significant development, the rebel faction of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has decided to cancel its 'Shiromani Akali Dal Sudhar Lehar' (Reform Movement) following a ruling by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The decision was taken after a meeting held today in Amritsar, marking a pivotal turn in the ongoing internal conflict within the party.
The decision was taken after Giani Raghubir Singh, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, pronounced punishment for SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and other senior leaders. In his statement, Jathedar Singh underlined that the rebel leaders were also responsible for their actions and asked all parties to settle their differences and unite. He ordered the acceptance of resignations from all leaders involved in the dispute and instructed the renewal of the Shiromani Akali Dal. The internal rift had begun when a section of senior leaders went into splits, protesting against Sukhbir Singh Badal's leadership and other key issues. This faction, led by the prominent leaders Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Bibi Jagir Kaur, and Prem Singh Chandumajra, initiated the 'Sudhar Lehar' and filed a formal complaint against Sukhbir Singh Badal at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
After a detailed hearing, the Akal Takht issued its ruling and administered religious punishments to Sukhbir Singh Badal and the other party leaders involved. With this development, the rebel faction has decided to stop its reform movement, indicating an end to the possibility of reconciliation within the Shiromani Akali Dal.
