Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): BJP Vice President Dr. Subhash Sharma has strongly criticized the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governments for their failure to address the severe drinking water crisis in Chheharta, a locality in Amritsar. Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Sharma accused the local political leaders of ignoring the basic needs of the people, forcing them to live in deplorable conditions.

"People in Chheharta are enduring a life of misery due to the apathy of both the Congress and AAP governments. These political parties have failed to address the most basic issue of safe drinking water, and as a result, residents are suffering," Dr. Sharma said. He further pointed out that neither the Congress nor AAP MLAs had taken any substantial action to alleviate the water crisis in the region. "The people of Chheharta have been protesting for their basic rights for a long time, yet no steps have been taken to resolve the issue," he added.

Dr. Sharma urged the residents of Chheharta to take their frustration to the ballot box in the upcoming Municipal Corporation (MC) elections. "It's time for the people of Chheharta to take revenge from the ruling AAP government by voting them out in the MC elections. The power lies in your hands," he said.

In addition, Dr. Sharma raised concerns about the Jaica project, which had promised improvements to the water supply system. He questioned why pipes had not been installed as part of the project to ensure safe drinking water and called for an inquiry into the matter. "The Jaica project must be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible for the failure to install pipes should be held accountable," he stated. Dr. Sharma also announced that the BJP would appeal to Union Minister to intervene and launch a direct project aimed at providing safe drinking water to the residents of Chheharta. "The BJP is committed to bringing justice to the people of Chheharta, and we will request the Union Minister for immediate action on a dedicated project to solve this crisis," he said.

Concluding his address, Dr. Sharma expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge victorious in the upcoming MC elections in Amritsar. "The people of Chheharta have suffered long enough, and they are ready for change. BJP will win the MC elections and bring the much-needed relief to the residents of this region," he concluded. The issue of drinking water in Chheharta remains a critical challenge, and all eyes are now on the upcoming elections to see if the BJP's promises can win the trust of the voters.
