New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Union Health Ministry is exploring options to tackle the growing faculty shortage in medical colleges, including the possibility of faculty sharing between institutions. This move comes as the ministry works on a roadmap to introduce 10,000 new medical seats for the 2025-26 academic year.
The ministry is evaluating various aspects of medical education, including the faculty shortage, curriculum modernization, affordability of education, and the expansion of postgraduate (PG) and specialisation courses. Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava revealed that experts had suggested allowing the sharing of faculty, especially in non-clinical subjects, as a viable solution to alleviate the shortage.
