India Looks ‘Better Than the Whole World’ from Space, Says Sunita Williams!

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Ever wondered how India looks from space? Well, astronaut Rakesh Sharma's iconic words from his 1984 mission still echo: "Better than the whole world." And now, NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has echoed a similar sentiment, describing the magnificent view of India from the cosmos.
Sunita Williams, who recently returned to Earth after a 9-month stay on the International Space Station, couldn’t stop raving about how incredible India looks from space. In a media interaction on Tuesday, she shared stunning details of how the Himalayan range appears to be a massive wave flowing toward India. "India is so magnificent," she said, adding that the colors of Gujarat and Mumbai stood out clearly, with shimmering lights from cities and towns that looked like nets stretching across the land.
Her description was quite similar to that of Rakesh Sharma, who once said that India from space was the best view in the world. Sunita’s love for her roots also shone through, as she expressed excitement about reconnecting with her father’s homeland and India’s growing role in space exploration.
She also eagerly anticipated India's space missions, referring to the Axiom mission collaboration and expressing hope to see an Indian astronaut journeying into space. Sunita praised India for its democratic values and its rapid advancements in space exploration, particularly its ambitious human spaceflight program, aiming to send astronauts into orbit by 2026.
It’s clear that India's future in space is bright, with astronauts like Sunita Williams celebrating the country’s achievements in space exploration!
