Sanjay Jha the long-time chef at the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) recently shared an interesting detail about Kohli’s food preferences during a Ranji Trophy match. Virat Kohli's love for chili paneer has grown over time. Jha revealed, "When he was younger Virat loved chicken chili but now he personally approached me after training and asked for chili paneer for lunch." Kohli’s fondness for comfort food also shines through with Jha adding "For the past two days, after practice sessions he requested kadhi chawal."

How to Make Chili Paneer at Home:

Ingredients:

- 400 grams cottage cheese (paneer), cut into ½-inch cubes

- 1 teaspoon + 1 tablespoon tomato chili sauce

- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

- 2 tablespoons refined flour (maida)

- 5-6 spring onions, chopped

- 2 tablespoons oil

- ½ cup red capsicum, chopped

- ½ cup green capsicum, chopped

- ½ cup yellow capsicum, chopped

- Salt, to taste

Method:

1. In a bowl add the paneer cubes, salt, ginger-garlic paste, refined flour, and 1 tsp of tomato chili sauce. Mix gently. Roughly chop the spring onions.

2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a non-stick wok. Heat enough oil in a kadai for deep frying. Cut the red chilies into small pieces remove the seeds, and add them to the wok. Add the spring onions and sauté.

3. Add the paneer cubes in batches to the hot oil in the kadai and deep fry on high heat until golden. In the wok add the chopped capsicums and stir well. Add salt and cook for a few minutes.

4. Add 1 tablespoon of tomato chili sauce to the capsicums, mix well, and cook for another 2 minutes. Turn off the heat. Drain the fried paneer cubes and add them to the wok. Toss everything together until well-coated. Serve hot and enjoy!
