New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : In a move that is set to inconvenience thousands of passengers the Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of the Vande Bharat Express on the New Delhi-Vaishno Devi route for 50 days. The cancellation which comes into effect immediately is due to maintenance work on the railway track. According to railway officials the maintenance work is essential to ensure the safety and smooth operation of trains on the route. The work involves the replacement of old tracks, upgrading of signaling systems and other necessary repairs.

"The safety of our passengers is our top priority and we cannot compromise on that," said a railway spokesperson. "The maintenance work is necessary to ensure that our trains run smoothly and safely. We regret the inconvenience this may cause to our passengers but we are confident that it is essential for their safety." The Vande Bharat Express also known as Train 18 is a state-of-the-art train that was launched in 2019. It runs from New Delhi to Katra the base camp for the Vaishno Devi shrine one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. The train has been extremely popular among passengers thanks to its modern amenities, comfortable seating and speedy service.

The cancellation of the Vande Bharat Express has left many passengers disappointed and inconvenienced. "I had booked my tickets on the Vande Bharat Express for my family's pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi," said Rohan Sharma a passenger from Delhi. "Now we will have to look for alternative arrangements which is a hassle." The railway authorities have advised passengers to check the railway website or contact the railway helpline for information on alternative trains and arrangements. The authorities have also assured passengers that the maintenance work will be completed within the stipulated 50-day period and the Vande Bharat Express will resume its services as soon as the work is completed.
