Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): Following the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department is set to launch a state-wide campaign starting April 1 to curb the growing menace of illegal e-rickshaws and autorickshaws. This initiative, which will run throughout the month of April, aims to ensure better regulation and enforcement in the state, including the capital city, Lucknow.

The Chief Minister’s directives were issued during a recent review meeting on law and order, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement at the ground level. The Transport Commissioner has ordered all District Magistrates, Police Commissioners, and Senior Superintendents of Police to work collaboratively in executing this campaign.

As part of the campaign, authorities will prioritize the verification of autorickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers to ensure their legitimacy. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of road safety, specifically mentioning that minor boys should not be permitted to drive vehicles. He also highlighted the need to verify vehicle renters and take immediate action against overloading in e-rickshaws and autorickshaws.

Starting April 1, the Transport Commissioner, Brijesh Narayan Singh, issued a letter to all concerned authorities, detailing a comprehensive joint campaign against unregistered and illegal vehicles, which will run until April 30. To ensure proper execution, Singh had previously met with department officials and directed all Additional Transport Commissioners, RTOs, and ARTOs to mobilize and coordinate efforts at the district level.

This campaign aims to enhance road safety, regulate transport operations, and ensure accountability among drivers and vehicle operators across Uttar Pradesh.
