Sonipat (The Uttam Hindu) : A devastating fire swept through a factory in Sonipat's industrial area on Tuesday, causing widespread destruction and losses estimated to be in crores. The fire, which is believed to have started around 10 am, quickly spread throughout the factory, engulfing the entire unit in flames. Thick smoke billowed into the air, spreading panic over several kilometers. Firefighters from the Sonipat Fire Department rushed to the scene and battled the blaze for over three hours before bringing it under control. However, by that time, the factory had already suffered extensive damage.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was so intense that it melted the metal gates and doors of the factory. "The flames were shooting up into the air, and the heat was so intense that we had to move back," said one eyewitness. The factory, which manufactured plastic products, had a large stockpile of raw materials and finished goods, all of which were destroyed in the fire. The owner of the factory estimated the losses to be around ₹5 crores. "We are still assessing the damage, but it's clear that the losses will be substantial," said the factory owner. "We are cooperating with the authorities to investigate the cause of the fire."

The police have launched an investigation into the fire and are examining the factory's safety records and equipment. "We are looking into all possible causes of the fire, including electrical faults, negligence, and sabotage," said a police spokesperson. The fire has raised concerns about the safety of industrial units in the area and the need for stricter safety measures. "This incident highlights the importance of adhering to safety protocols and having adequate fire safety measures in place," said a local industrialist. The factory owner has promised to provide compensation to the affected workers and to rebuild the factory. However, for now, the focus is on investigating the cause of the fire and preventing such incidents in the future.
