South Delhi Murder Mystery: Son Kills Parents and Sister, Pretends to Be on Morning Walk
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The shocking murder of a couple and their 23-year-old daughter in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai has been solved within hours, with the police revealing that the brutal killings were carried out by the couple’s own son, Arjun. Despite initially claiming to have been out on a morning walk, Arjun had actually murdered his family in their sleep. He not only alerted the police about the grisly crime but also called his uncle to report the deaths. Authorities now say the murders were driven by Arjun's resentment over his father’s harsh treatment and the revelation that his parents planned to leave their property to his sister. The victims—Rajesh Kumar (51), his wife Komal (46), and their daughter Kavita (23)—were discovered on Wednesday morning in their home. Arjun, 20, had told police that he went for a walk at around 5:30 am and found the bodies upon his return. Rajesh and Komal were celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary, and neighbors reported seeing the family earlier that day, with Arjun claiming to have wished them a happy anniversary before leaving.
However, upon investigating the crime scene, the police found no signs of forced entry, and CCTV footage revealed that no one from outside had entered the house. Further questioning of Arjun exposed inconsistencies in his statements, and after prolonged interrogation, he confessed to the murders. Arjun, a second-year student at Delhi University and a trained boxer, had been subjected to verbal abuse by his father, a former serviceman, who regularly criticized him for his academic performance and household chores. The tension had escalated recently when Arjun learned that his father intended to leave the family property to his sister, which infuriated him. Feeling humiliated and neglected, Arjun carefully plotted the murders, choosing his parents' anniversary as the day to carry out his plan. To create an alibi, he pretended to go for a walk at dawn. The family's move to Delhi 15 years ago was to provide better opportunities for their children, but this tragic act of violence has shattered the community. Neighbors, who remembered the mother-daughter duo as friendly and approachable, were left in disbelief. "It’s unimaginable that something so tragic could happen to them," said one neighbor. Another expressed shock, recounting how just the day before, she had seen the mother and daughter laughing and chatting together on their terrace.
