New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): A deadly accident has occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. Six people have been killed, and one is seriously injured. The accident happened at around 3:43 am early Wednesday morning near the 196-kilometre marker in the Tirva Kotwali region.

The authorities reported that the car was travelling at a high speed when it crossed a divider and crashed into an oncoming truck. Among the deceased, five were medical professionals affiliated with Saifai Medical College, who were returning to Saifai from Lucknow when the accident occurred. The sixth victim was a non-medical passenger. Preliminary investigations show that the driver of the car must have lost control because it allegedly fell asleep and drifted to the opposite lane, hitting the truck head-on.

The police officer confirmed the death of five doctors who were killed in the accident. The sole survivor, Jayveer Singh, is undergoing critical treatment at Saifai Medical College. The families of the deceased have been contacted by the authorities. The bodies have been taken for autopsy. The case is under investigation to understand the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
