Security forces eliminate 75 terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir in 2024, 60% Pakistanis: Army Officials

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In 2024, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have successfully eliminated around 75 terrorists across different regions of the state, including the Jammu region and the Kashmir valley. This includes encounters and firefights during infiltration attempts by terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC). According to Army officials, a significant portion of those killed — 60 percent — were Pakistanis. This reflects Pakistan's continued support for the terrorist infrastructure in the region, despite its economic challenges. The local recruitment into Pakistan-sponsored terror groups remains low, with only four local recruits joining these groups this year.
Pakistan has been one of the largest exporters of terrorism globally, with a primary focus on India. Since last year, Islamabad has made efforts to boost terrorism in the Jammu region, specifically in districts such as Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, and Reasi. However, the increased deployment of additional troops and the filling of the security vacuum created by the withdrawal of Rashtriya Rifles from these areas — following their redeployment to secure the China border — has effectively curbed these activities.
Army officials emphasized that the local terror infrastructure has been targeted with significant success under the leadership of Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi and Northern Army Commander Lt Gen MV Suchendra Kumar. Both have focused on eliminating terrorist groups in regions overseen by the White Knight Corps.
