New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The highly discussed 'One Nation One Election' bill will not be presented in the Lok Sabha on Monday as initially planned. It has been removed from the revised agenda. The bill, which was supposed to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday, was included in the Friday's agenda, but now it will not be presented as scheduled. The reason behind this decision remains unclear, and it is uncertain when the bill will be brought before the House.

The 'One Nation One Election' Bill to Be Introduced After Financial Business:

According to sources, these bills may be introduced after the completion of financial business in the House. The revised list issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat does not include the bills in Monday’s agenda. However, after obtaining approval from the Lok Sabha Speaker, the government can still introduce the bill through a supplementary listing at the last moment.

These two bills relate to conducting simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies. Last week, copies of these bills were distributed to members as per the rules. The ongoing winter session of Parliament will conclude on December 20. Before that, the government intends to focus on passing the first batch of demands, which are listed for Monday.

This move indicates that the government wishes to deliberate further on the major and controversial 'One Nation, One Election' issue, which is seen as a significant step toward conducting simultaneous elections. It is clear that discussions on this matter will continue.
