Bareilly (The Uttam Hindu): In Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly, members of the Muslim community in Mirganj have voluntarily started demolishing an illegal section of a mosque built on a pond's land to avoid any disputes. Before taking this step, representatives from the community met with the administration and expressed their willingness to remove the unauthorized structure.

Complaint and Investigation

The issue arose in Tilmas village of the Mirganj police station area when a complaint about the mosque's construction on government pond land was posted on a social media platform two days ago. Acting on the complaint, the administration dispatched a revenue team to the site for measurement. It was discovered that a part of the mosque was indeed built on the pond’s land. Following this, police personnel were deployed in the village as a precautionary measure.

On Monday, half a dozen representatives from the Muslim community met with Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Tripti Gupta. Understanding the administration's stance, they agreed to demolish the additional structure over the pond voluntarily.

Mosque’s History and Community’s Stance

The mosque in question was built by landlords of Tilmas village. According to a local resident, Nisar, the mosque's back wall was near the pond, which was used by worshippers for ablution. Due to the pond’s water causing structural damage, pillars were erected in a portion of the pond to support the roof. However, after the complaint, the community decided to remove the structure themselves.

Report Sent to District Magistrate

The administration, led by SDM Tripti Gupta, Tehsildar Vishal Kumar Sharma, CO Anjani Kumar Tiwari, and SHO Siddharth Singh Tomar, investigated the site. It was found that the construction of the roof on the pond's pillars was illegal. A report was submitted to the District Magistrate, which caused concern within the community. To avoid any action from the administration, the Muslim community began dismantling the illegal section of the mosque two days ago.

Current Situation

SDM Tripti Gupta stated that members of the Muslim community had voluntarily agreed to remove the additional structure from the pond. She confirmed that the situation in Tilmas village is now normal, and the community is cooperating fully.
