New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): As millions of devotees gather for the Maha Kumbh 2025 at the Sangam, the Uttar Pradesh government has introduced AI technology to help reunite lost individuals with their families and manage the large crowds more effectively.

The government has launched an AI chatbot named *Kumbh Sah'AI'yak*, which not only provides real-time updates and information about the Kumbh Mela but also assists in locating missing persons. This innovative technology enables people to easily reconnect with their lost relatives and navigate the expansive Kumbh grounds with ease.

In addition, around 2,700 AI-powered cameras have been installed across Prayagraj and the Mela premises. These cameras help identify the faces of missing individuals, making it easier to track them down. Combined with the AI chatbot, this system creates a comprehensive network to locate and assist lost persons. People can report missing individuals through the chatbot or the Mela helpline number 1920. Lost individuals can also be directed to a “lost and found” center with the help of nearby police officers.

SSP Rajesh Dwivedi mentioned that, for the first time, the police are using facial recognition and AI technology to locate missing persons. While he acknowledged that the technology is not entirely flawless, he noted that it has shown promising results and has the potential to improve further. This integration of AI-driven solutions is set to enhance safety and ease the process of locating lost individuals during the high-traffic Kumbh Mela.
